The Seriti T-shirt is a heavyweight, oversized statement piece rooted in the Setswana understanding of seriti - dignity, self-respect and the value you recognise within yourself.
The Seriti dresses and tracksuit are made from heavyweight material as well.
From the designer's vision, to the sewing, to the final print, the garment is created as a complete expression of cultural identity.
THE MEANING OF SERITI
Seriti means dignity in Setswana.
Go nna le seriti ke go nna le tlotlo towards self, go tlhopa ditshwetso tsa gago sentle. Go ipona o le botlhokwa go ka se ikele tlhoko.
To have seriti is to have respect for yourself. It is choosing your decisions carefully, recognising your own importance and refusing to neglect yourself.
The Seriti T-shirt is therefore more than something to wear.
It is a reminder of who you are and the value you carry.
THE ARTWORK
At the centre of the artwork is a grandmother - a familiar figure within many Batswana homes and communities.
She represents the grandmother you might find sitting comfortably, sipping her tea a le tlhabele leinaane, sharing stories and passing knowledge from one generation to another.
Beside her is firewood, an important part of the setting and the story.
The firewood represents the environment in which stories have historically been shared - where people gather, listen, remember and connect.
Together, the grandmother, the firewood and the surrounding setting speak to:
MEMORY.

CONNECTION.
The artwork is not simply an illustration of a grandmother.
It is an image of a world.
A world where knowledge is shared through stories, where elders carry memory, and where culture lives through everyday moments.

The colours of the artwork represent different states of embodying your seriti.
They reflect the many ways dignity can exist within you - through how you see yourself, how you carry yourself, the decisions you make and the respect you have for your own existence.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR SIZE BEFORE ORDERING
Our T-shirts have an intentionally oversized fit. Please request the size chart and check garment measurements carefully before placing your order.
Important: Each T-shirt is made to order. Because of this, we cannot offer free exchanges when the incorrect size was selected.
If you selected the wrong size, an exchange may be requested provided the item is unworn and meets our exchange conditions. The customer is responsible for the return shipping, replacement shipping, and any additional production cost for the replacement garment.

REFUNDS & EXCHANGES POLICY
Tolamo Motswana
At Tolamo Motswana, every piece is created with intention and care. We want you to be happy with your purchase, while also ensuring that our small-batch and made-to-order production process is protected.
Please read the following policy before placing your order.
1. CHANGE OF MIND
We do not accept refunds or exchanges simply because you have changed your mind, ordered the wrong size, or no longer want the item.
Please carefully check our size guide and product information before placing your order. If you are unsure about sizing, please contact us before purchasing.
2. FAULTY OR DAMAGED ITEMS
If your item arrives with a manufacturing fault, damage, incorrect branding, incorrect colour (Please note that for beige and creme white, colors vary and are not constant) incorrect size supplied by us, or another defect that was not disclosed at the time of purchase, please contact us within 5 days of receiving your order.
Please provide:
- Your order number
- Clear photographs or videos showing the issue
- A description of the fault
We will assess the issue and, where the item is confirmed to be faulty, we may offer:
- A repair;
- A replacement;
- An exchange; or
- A refund, where appropriate.
The resolution will depend on the nature of the fault and whether the item can reasonably be repaired or replaced.
3. INCORRECT ITEM RECEIVED
If you receive an item that is different from what you ordered, please contact us within 5 days of delivery.
Where the error is on our side, we will arrange the appropriate solution, which may include replacing the item or providing a refund.
4. MADE-TO-ORDER & CUSTOM ITEMS
Many Tolamo Motswana pieces are made to order or produced specifically for the customer.
Because these pieces are created specifically for an order, made-to-order and customised items cannot be returned or exchanged for change of mind, incorrect personal sizing, or preference.
If a made-to-order item has a manufacturing fault or we have made an error with your order, please contact us within 5 days of receiving it so that we can assess the matter.
5. SALE ITEMS
Sale, discounted, promotional and clearance items are final sale unless the item is faulty or we have supplied an incorrect item.
6. ITEMS THAT CANNOT BE ACCEPTED FOR RETURN
We cannot accept returns or exchanges where an item:
- Has been worn, washed, altered or damaged by the customer;
- Has been damaged through incorrect care or washing;
- Has been exposed to perfume, makeup, smoke or other substances;
- Is missing its original tags or packaging where these are required for the return;
- Shows signs of intentional damage or misuse; or
- Is returned outside the applicable return period.
Please follow the care instructions provided on our website.
7. EXCHANGES
Where an exchange is approved, the replacement item will be subject to availability.
If the requested replacement is unavailable, we may offer an alternative solution, such as a different available item or refund where appropriate.
Any price difference resulting from an exchange will be payable by the customer or refunded to the customer, as applicable.
8. RETURN SHIPPING
Where the fault or error is confirmed to be on the part of Tolamo Motswana, we will cover reasonable return and replacement shipping costs.
Where a return or exchange is requested for a reason that is not due to an error or fault on our part, the customer will be responsible for applicable shipping costs.
9. REFUND PROCESSING
Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method where reasonably possible.
Refund processing times may vary depending on the payment provider or financial institution.
Shipping fees are generally non-refundable unless the return is the result of an error or confirmed fault on our part.
10. IMPORTANT
Please inspect your order as soon as it arrives and contact us promptly if there is a problem.
Tolamo Motswana reserves the right to assess each refund, exchange or return request individually and to request photographs, videos or other information necessary to establish the condition of the item.
This policy does not limit any rights you may have under applicable South African consumer-protection law.
